ABOUT

Magali Feuga is a French Australian artist based on Australia’s Sunshine Coast.

Her creative roots trace back to an unconventional childhood spent aboard her parents’ sailboat, where art was introduced to her as a language of curiosity, observation, and wonder.

She later studied art in Nice (France) in the late 1990s and continued to develop her practice independently while travelling the world for almost two decades as a private chef. These experiences have deeply shaped her sensitivity to culture, ritual, and connection, and continue to resonate throughout her work.

After settling in Australia in 2018, Magali turned her focus fully toward her artistic practice People—portraits and figures— quickly became central to her work, appearing as emotive and symbolic representations of shared human experience.

While her practice began with painting, sculpture has been her primary medium in recent years, offering her a greater sense of freedom and a richer potential within her creative process.

Through a strong visual and physical presence, her work invites viewers into a shared space—one that encourages reflection on our collective heritage and celebrates the emotional and cultural bonds that unite us.

Magali’s three-dimensional practice explores identity, mythology, and cultural memory, through carefully constructed pieces, often resembling modern relics or ceremonial objects.

Made from recycled, sustainable materials – such as cardboard, paper mâché, paper, and natural fibres – the stylised forms, expressive textures, and thoughtful symmetries, make each piece an invitation to both visual and tactile engagement. Also drawing on themes of nature, her work resonates as a poetic reflection on humanity and its connection to the natural world.

In a world where modernity often overshadows tradition, they stand as powerful, material-based, storytellers. Evoking the beauty of bygone eras but also serving as a reminder of the diverse narratives that shape our human experience.
